16 to 19 Bursary Fund
The 16 to 19 Bursary Fund supports students by covering some of the financial costs of coming to the sixth form such as travel, equipment and trips/visits.
There are two types of bursaries available:
- A vulnerable bursary of up to £1,200 a year for young people in one of the defined vulnerable groups.
- A discretionary bursary that institutions may award to meet individual needs.
Who is eligible for the Bursary Fund?
You may be eligible if you fit into the following groups:
- Group 1 - Students in care, care leavers, students receiving Income Support or Universal Credit and disabled students in receipt of Employment Support Allowance who are also in receipt of Disability Living Allowance or Personal Independence payments. You are eligible for the maximum bursary of £1200.
- Group 2 - If your total household income is below £20,000 you will be eligible for a full bursary award and if it is between £20,000- £27,000 you will be eligible for one of the partial contribution bursary awards. Evidence of household income will be required and payment will be based on both attendance and academic performance.
